It occurs (belatedly) to me that it might be helpful to explain my policy for adding people to my Dreamwidth reading/Livejournal friends list.

I add people that:
  • I know (or at least, have met) and like in realspace
  • or,who write books I like
  • or, who write blogs/journal that I enjoy or that make me think, or who point me at interesting places on teh Intarwebs
  • or, whose opinions engage me (which does not mean I necessarily agree with them)
I don't expect anybody that I subscribe to (or friend) to reciprocate; and I don't get upset if somebody who used to read me decides to stop (they're probably busy/overwhelmed/bored and I get the same way sometimes).

That's it: not too complicated.

I don't mind being too late to comment on giveaways confined to (say) the first 10 commenters. Except when the "Captcha" required doesn't actually provide a field to fill in, in 2 different browsers.
